STAFF SARGEANT TRAVIS MILLS, US ARMY

SRS Raise the Roof Foundation Proudly Supports Staff Sergeant Travis Mills and His Family:

United States Army Staff Sergeant Travis Mills of the 82nd Airborne, on his third tour of duty in Afghanistan, was critically injured on April 10th, 2012 by an IED (improvised explosive device) while on patrol, losing portions of both legs and both arms. He is only the fourth quadruple amputee, from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, to survive his injuries. Thanks to his amazing strength, courage, an incredible will to live, the heroic actions of the men in his unit, and the prayers of thousands, Travis has returned to the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, near Washington DC, where he is on the road to recovery. Every day is a battle, but Travis continues to astound friends and family alike with his progress and with his amazing spirit. SSG Travis Mills is a genuine American hero, and for his incredible sacrifice, we are forever in his debt.

Through the organization Luke’s Wings, SRS Distribution Inc. (“SRS”) has made donations that have helped pay for his family in Texas & Michigan to travel to the DC area to visit him regularly while he has been recovering.  Through the involvement with his family, the SRS executive team and employees continued to learn more about Travis, his courageous wife Kelsey, and their beautiful young daughter, Chloe.  We learned that Staff Sgt. Mills is a big college football fan and his favorite team is the Michigan Wolverines. As such, the SRS executive team made arrangements for Travis, Kelsey, Chloe and some their extended family to come here to Dallas as very special guests of the SRS family for the Alabama vs. Michigan game on September 1st in the SRS luxury suite at Cowboys Stadium.

In addition to bringing Travis and his family into Dallas for the game, the SRS family of over 1,000 employees ran a fundraising drive to raise money for an educational fund for the Mill’s daughter Chloe. In just over a week, SRS employees, customers, and vendors donated over $28,000!! The newly formed SRS Raise the Roof Foundation matched the donations made and the SRS Raise the Roof Foundation President (Dan Tinker) and Executive Director (Rich Ross) presented the Mill’s family with a check for $57,500 at the tailgate party of Alabama vs. Michigan game on September 1st!
We thank all of the SRS Distribution Inc. employees, customers, and vendors who supported this great cause and we thank Travis and his family for their unbelievable dedication and sacrifice!
